Education Minister Owen Bonnici has said on social media, that following discussions and broad consultation with the various stakeholders, a site for the new Primary School in Victoria has been agreed, with excavation work now underway.
He said it was decided that it “made a lot of sense for the new school to be located within the educational campus that already exist in the locality.”
The Minister explained that a state of the art school will be built for Gozitan children, which will also include a kindergarten, a child care centre and many sports facilities.
This project will involve the extensive refurbishment of the middle school (Forms 1 & 2) which is already located nearby. All this will be undertaken through an investment of around € 10 million, the Minister said.
Excavation started over recent days and Minister Bonnici explained that the work is being done under the supervision of archaeologists because some archaeological remains had been found at the same site.
