A reminder that this coming Sunday, the 29th of March, the Qala Parish will be holding the fourth Easter Edition of its now popular ecumenical event for foreign nationals residing or visiting the island of Gozo, called, Gozo International Celebration (GIC). This is the eleventh edition of GIC. The theme for this Easter edition is ‘Abide With Me.’

This event originated from the desire of Pope Benedict XVI to bring different Christian faiths closer. The Easter Edition will be bringing together foreign nationals residing in Gozo of many faiths from 55 countries across the globe.

The programme commences with an address by the host of the event, the Qala Parish Priest and Chair of the GIC, Canon Dr. Joseph Zammit.

A number of Easter-related music pieces will then be sung by the renowned University of Malta Junior College Orchestra under the director of Mro. Manoel Pirotta; Schola Cantorum Jubilate under the direction of Marouska Attard and lead by Stefan Attard, Ghawdex Halldbell Ringers, Magnificat Choir with the participation of Soprano Ruth Portelli, Baritone Joseph Buttigieg and renowned Gozitan-Australian Artist Paul A Stellini will be absorbing the atmosphere of the event through his artistic talents..

Apart from the fresh programme, this edition will mark the launch and bestowment of The Horace Mercieca Award, established to commemorate the late Me. Horace Mercieca, a co-founder of the GIC.

A reception for all will be held at the Bishop Mikiel F. Buttigieg Parish Centre, 28th April 1688 Street, Qala consisting of traditional Easter Gastronomy of the Maltese Islands.
