1 new Covid-19 case, with 8 more recovered, 58 cases are currently activeOn Saturday during an update on the current Covid-19 situation, Supt of Public Health Prof Charmaine Gauci said that, 1 new cases had been reported in the past 24-hours, from the 1,006 tests taken, in total 41,000 tests have been made.

She went on to say that there are 490 cases, 58 are currently active, a further 8 people have recovered and there have been 5 deaths.

The case is a Spanish male aged 24, who first had symptoms on the 7th of May, he works from home and has only been in contact with 1 other person in the same residence who has now also been tested with the result still to come.

There are currently 7 patients in hospital receiving treatment for Covid-19, Prof Gauci said. 4 are in Boffa Hospital, 2 in St Thomas and 1 at Mater Dei.

Prof Gauci advised that Malta is now in the “transition phase,” here are the Policy considerations set out for the WHO European Region for the Covid-19 transition phases, which point out “could last several months.”

She also reminded everyone to stick to the social distancing measures and to wear masks correctly, meaning that your nose must be covered by the mask.
