Health Authorities have said that 6 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours. They said that today’s new cases form part of a cluster related to yesterday’s case. 4 tests had resulted positive this morning.
Yesterday’s case referred to by the Authorities had attended last weekend’s `Hotel Takeover Summer 2020′ event held at the Radisson Blu Resort, St Julian’s.
Public Health Authorities in a statement, said that they are “strongly recommending” that all those who attended this party to get tested for Covid-19. Persons are to call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms.
Authorities stressed that “as symptoms can develop within 14 days of exposure it is imperative that whoever attended this event monitors themselves for symptoms for the coming 2 weeks. Anyone who develops symptoms should stay indoors and call 111 again to book another swab to exclude Covid-19 infection.”
“While there is no room for alarm as all the necessary measures are being taken as is being done in this case, it is important that everyone follows the Public Health advice,” they said.
There are currently 12 active cases, there were no new recoveries and 931 swab tests were taken during the last 24-hours.. The total number of swabs taken since the start being 117,840.
686 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in total, with 665 recovered and there have been 9 deaths.
Health Authorities advised the public that for any queries regarding symptoms, or to make an appointment at one of the swabbing centres, please call 111. All 3 swabbing centres are open daily Monday to Sunday, including the one in Gozo.
The Authorities reminded that for the correct, official Covid-19 updates, the public should follow the sahha and Health Promotion and Disease Directorate Facebook pages.
