Health Authorities have said that 9 new Covid-19 cases has been recorded in the past 24-hours, with 4 cases related to the St. Venera feast cluster in Malta, while the remaining 5 are “sporadic” cases.

There have been no new recoveries. This means that there are currently 55 active cases, with 729 cases in total, 665 have recovered and there have been 9 deaths.

Authorities said that 1,722 swab tests were taken during the last 24-hours. The total number of swabs taken since the start being 125,685.

The Health Ministry said in a statement this morning that all 33 migrants admitted to Malta yesterday were isolated and swabbed for Covid-19. 19 of these 33 migrants have tested positive.

It added that as per usual procedure, migrants arriving by boat are immediately quarantined and tested.

The migrants who are positive will continue to be isolated at the Hal Far Initial Reception Centre, and the rest will remain in quarantine and followed up

There are now a total of 85 positive cases which form part of the cohort of disembarked migrants in Malta.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All 3 swabbing centres are open daily Monday to Sunday, including the one in Gozo.
