A new lighting system powered by solar energy has been installed in Xlendi. During a visit to the locality, Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri said that this pilot project, which includes 13 poles with solar lighting, has “drastically reduced light pollution in the area.”
Light pollution had been taken into account for this area, and the Minister explained that these new lights are only switched on when needed and only with the necessary illumination. This is done using intelligent lights with motion sensors, so there is light only where necessary.
The Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri concluded by saying that this solar energy system cleaner energy for Xlendi Bay.
