Police Environmental Protection Unit (EPU) and the Environmental and Resources Authority (ERA) carried out inspections yesterday afternoon and early this morning to ensure that the vandalism related to multiple red spray-painted arrows at various protected zones around the Maltese islands was being cleaned by the perpetrators.
However, Police said it emerged that the paint was not being removed as was agreed and approved by ERA officials.
Authorities said on Wednesday that the persons responsible were identified to be members from a French travel agency who are organising a sports challenge around Malta and Gozo. The organisers were ordered to clean all these markings by this Friday.
The person responsible is expected to be arraigned in Court by the Police and ERA in the coming days.
The multiple spray-painted arrows appeared at the Majjistral Park and other areas including Gozo, such as Ghajnsielem and the Kantra Valley, to be used as directional aids for a series of races, and it was said that they were “removable by water.”
Dear ERA – i understand a lot , but i do NOT understand that Farmers burning ( mostly late or by Night Plastic , and there is so many Roads the are full of Plastic and other debris = on ALL Islands ! You make big activities to keep to BLUE . BUT the Plastic comes from this places – and now you can se eit more and more – IT IS NOT FROM TOURISTS !!!
