34 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours, with 38 recoveries, health authorities advised that once again, today’s new cases are still being investigated.

Authorities also noted that 10 migrants who resided in “closed centres,” have also tested positive in the last 24-hours. Therefore the total number is 44 positive cases.

From yesterday’s 26 cases, authorities said that 6 were family members of previously known cases, 2 were work colleagues of positive cases and 3 were direct contacts of positive cases. No details were given for the remaining 15 cases.

2,438 swab tests were taken during this time period, with 197,014 having been taken since the start.

There are now 424 active cases, with 1,965 cases in total. 1,528 have recovered and there have been 13 deaths.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control up to 10am this morning is showing that for Malta, not including today’s figures, the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 84.7 with the number of cases still at 1,909 as yesterday, and still showing 12 deaths.

Malta is in fourth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 213.3 followed by France with 91.0 and then Croatia with 81.9

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
