An 86-year-old woman has died while being positive with Covid-19, she passed away overnight while in IDU at Mater Dei Hospital, she is the 16th patient to die with the virus.

In a statement on Monday, the Ministry said that the elderly woman tested positive for Covid-19 on the 30th of August and was admitted to Mater Dei on the same day. She was then transferred to St Thomas Hospital on the 2nd of September, and back to Mater Dei on the 5th of September.

The Ministry said that the woman had underlying health conditions.

The Ministry, while offering its condolences to the patient’s family, reiterated its appeal for the public to continue to follow the public health guidelines.
