X300 between Cirkewwa and University is a step in the right direction" - GUGThe Gozo University Group in reaction to the announcement of the X300 direct route from Cirkewwa to the University, said that, “we believe that this is a step in the right direction, yet we are open for any suggestions on ways to improve this service whilst always aiming at facilitating the life of Gozitan Students.”

In a statement, the GUG said over the past years it has been working hard towards providing Gozitan students with a better and more efficient means of transport for their daily / weekly commute to University and other institutions.

“Following numerous discussions regarding the possibility of introducing a new route aimed solely for Gozitans who study or work in Malta,” GUG said that, together with Minister for Transport Ian Borg, Minister for Transport, as well as Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, “they came to the agreement that it is of utmost importance that a direct route be dedicated to students, more so during these stressful times.”

The bus service which is being planned for route X300 will be timed with the ferry’s arrival time, implying that this route will be a synchronised route according to the ferry’s arrival at Cirkewwa, the GUG said.

This service will be taking the most direct route towards Valletta, passing through both the Mellieha and St. Paul’s Bay bypasses, stopping only at Qroqq (Skatepark Msida) and Kullegge (Msida) bus stops.

GUG noted that it is being suggested that the Student Fare will be applicable for all those in possession of a Student Tallinja Card. For the time being, this route will only be operating on weekdays, that is from Monday to Friday.

This route will be operating during peak hours, with the first trip leaving as soon as the 6:00am ferry arrives.

Well done, this is what I have been asking for years now and is better than the fast ferry for me. Thank you very very much.
