65 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours, with 21 recoveries. Health authorities advised that today’s cases “are still being investigated.”

From yesterday’s 39 cases, authorities said that 10 were family members of previously known cases, 3 were direct contacts of other positive cases, 3 were from the St Joseph Home cluster and 1 was from Casa Antonia Home for the Elderly cluster, 1 was of a work colleague of a previously know case and 1 was from a social gathering with other positive cases. Details were not given for the other outstanding 28 cases.

There were 2,922 swab tests taken, with 229,252 having been taken since the start.

There are now 663 active cases, with 2,699 cases in total. 2,017 have recovered and there have been 19 deaths.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – is recording data up to yesterday and is showing for Malta the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 131.5 with the number of cases as 2,595. Malta is in fifth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 300.5, followed by Czechia with 178.5, France with 178.4, Luxembourg 140.7, followed by Malta.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
