A 72-year-old woman and an 86-year old woman have both died while being positive with Covid-19, the Ministry for Health has said. They become the 18th and 19th patients to die with the virus.

Three patients have now died with the virus in 24-hours, a 91-year old woman died yesterday at Mater Dei.

In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry said that the 72-year old woman was admitted to Mater Dei on the 11th of August, and tested positive for Covid-19 on the 12th of August. She was transferred to the ICU on the 15th of August where she remained, the woman died during the night.

The 86-year old woman also died during the night in ICU at Mater Dei. Authorities said that she tested positive on the 8th of September and was admitted to ICU on the 16th of September.

The Ministry, while offering its condolences to the patient’s families reiterated its appeal for the public to continue to follow the public health guidelines, including frequent hand washing, social distancing and wearing a mask.
