38 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours, with 34 recoveries. Health authorities advised that today’s cases “are still being investigated.”

From yesterday’s 45 cases, authorities said that 8 were family members of previously known cases, 1 was a direct contact of another other positive case, 15 were from the St Joseph Home cluster, 2 were work colleagues of previously known cases and 3 were related to the entertainment industry (no specific information provided). Details were not given for the other outstanding 16 cases.

There were 2,409 swab tests taken, with 235,640 having been taken since the start.

There are now 678 active cases, with 2,814 cases in total. 2,113 have recovered and there have been 23 deaths.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – is showing for Malta, not including today’s figures, that the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 112.9 with the number of cases as still at 2,634, as well as showing 17 deaths. Malta is in seventh position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 310.9, followed by Czechia with 207.0, France with 192.6, Luxembourg 157.4, Belgium 124.3, Netherlands 118.0, followed by Malta.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
