Police have said that a 62-year-old man from Birzebbuga is being questioned by Officers from the Environmental Protection Unit (EPU) in relation to a report of a child handling a shotgun in the vicinity of Triq il-Brolli, Birzebbuga.
The Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) in a statement on Saturday, reported that a CABS team monitoring in the area of Has-Saptan valley during the morning filmed a boy, “aged between approximately 10 and 13 years, roaming the countryside with a loaded shotgun.”
Following the report by CABS the police said that they went immediately on site but the persons involved had left.
“Investigations and analysis of the footage led the officers to identify the man involved,” Police said, and they later seized the shotgun shown in the footage after a search in his residence.
The man is expected to be arraigned in Court, whilst Police investigations are still ongoing.
