There have been 29 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the past 24-hours, and 85 recoveries. Health authorities advised that today’s cases “are still being investigated.”

There are now 517 active cases, making it over 3,035 cases in total, 2,484 have recovered and there have been 34 deaths, the Ministry said.

From yesterday’s 27 cases, authorities said that 7 were family members of previously known cases, 1 cases was a direct contact of previously known cases and 1 was from the St Joseph Home cluster, 2 were imported, 2 were contacts of positive work colleagues, 1 case from Paceville cluster and 1 related to social gathering with other positive cases. Details were not given for the other outstanding 12 cases.

There were 2,116 swab tests taken, with 251,72 having been taken since the start.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – is still showing for Malta that the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000, is 116.7 with the number of cases still showing at 2,929 and 29 deaths. Malta is in tenth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 319.9.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
