66 new Covid-19 cases recorded with 47 recoveries, now 473 active casesHealth authorities have advised that 66 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the past 24-hours, and 47 recoveries. It said that today’s cases “are still being investigated.”

There are now 473 active cases, making it 3,270 cases in total, 2,758 have recovered and there have been 39 deaths, the Ministry said.

From yesterday’s 65 cases, authorities said that 15 were family members of previously known cases, 5 were direct contacts of previously known cases, 13 were contacts of positive work colleagues, 2 cases were imported and 4 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases. Details were not given for the other outstanding 26 cases.

There were 2,537 swab tests taken, with 263,454 having been taken since the start.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – is showing for Malta that the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000, is 89.1 with the number of cases still showing as 3,139 and 37 deaths. Malta is in fifteenth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 319.3.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
