The John Paul II Pastoral Centre had its official opening in Nadur at the weekend and was the first inauguration of a pastoral project by the new Bishop of Gozo Mgr Anton Teuma.
Present for the ceremony were the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, MEP Dr Josianne Cutajar, representatives of the Nadur Local Council, the Chapter and clergy of St. Peter and St. Paul’s Basilica, and various other benefactors and guests.
Minister Camilleri congratulated everyone who had helped and worked towards the completion of the Centre, which can now accommodate dozens of young people on a daily basis.
It will be known as the Youth Centre, and will continue to serve its purpose by hosting teenagers and young people (Nadur Teen & Youth Centre) and now also the parish radio station – Radio Luminaria 106.9FM.
The Centre includes large meeting rooms, a games room, a prayer room, a museum for the sacred objects of the Basilica, and professional radio studios.
The aim of the Centre is to become more a means of evangelism both with adolescents and young people through the NTYC, and with adults through Radio Luminaria.
