71-year old man dies of Covid-19, even though had "tested negative"A 71-year old man has died as “an active case of Covid-19,” the Health Ministry said, even though he had tested negative over the past days. He is the 43rd person to die with the virus.

The Ministry for Health in a statement on Tuesday said that the man was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital on the 8th of September and was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on the 21st of September.

The statement continued that “although the man had negative Covid-19 tests in recent days, due to the fact he was suffering from symptoms related to the virus, this case has continued to be considered as an active case of Covid-19.”

The Minister said the man “had underlying health conditions,” and died at Mater Dei Hospital.

The Health Ministry, while offering its condolences to the patient’s family, once again reiterated its appeal for the public to continue to follow the public health guidelines, including frequent hand washing, social distancing and wearing a mask.
