A unique Christmas tree that instills the spirit of the Festive season as well as a special message, is a new idea of the Ghajnsielem Local Council.

This gigantic tree, which the Council said will be around 50 feet high, is to be made up of recycled glass wine bottles in order to convey an environmental message, that of the importance of recycling and reuse.

To achieve this, the Council said that it needs approximately 4500 75cl bottles.

All Ghajnsielem residents are being encouraged to take along their empty bottles, thereby helping the environment, as well as creating a unique project.

Clean empty bottles can be taken every Saturday to the Local Council office between 9am and 11am. This campaign is open to everyone including restaurants.

The Ghajnsielem Local Council gave special thanks to the Ghajnsielem Parish and the Ministry for Gozo for their collaboration.
