A delegation comprised of Regional Presidents from North Macedonia recently held meetings with representatives from the Gozo Regional Council and the Gozo Regional Development Authority.

During the meeting with the GRC the Mayor of Zebbug, Dr Marlene Cini, deputising for the President of the Region, and the Regional Council Executive Secretary, Ms Rita Mifsud Attard engaged in fruitful discussions on the intricate nuances of regionality and local governance.

The GRC said that topics such as regional challenges, government structures, and funds were discussed. Differing perspectives allowed both parties to leave the meeting with a plethora of new information.

At the end of the meeting, Dr Cini presented the head of the North Macedonian with a book published by the council “Gozo: a portrait of an island.”

At the delegation’s other meeting with the GRDA, its CEO, Mr Mario Borg, explained the role of the GRDA and the recently launched Gozo Regional Development Strategy.

Other topics such as regional challenges, EU funding opportunities and government structures were discussed.
