The Malta Union of Teachers and the Union of Professional Educators have conveyed their congratulations to Justyne Caruana who was appointed as Education Minister in the new Cabinet on Saturday.

The MUT said that it looks forward to their working together in the field of education “in order to further protect and improve the working conditions of educators and continue to offer the best educational experience to students.”

The union also thanked the outgoing Minister Owen Bonnici, who, the MUT said, “found himself at the forefront of the the pandemic, but acknowledged that with dialogue and the necessary and timely actions we were able to overcome the challenges of the sector during the pandemic.”

The UPE in its statement, also said that it is looking forward to working with Dr Caruana “as soon as possible to address he challenges we face in the sector for the benefit of our educators and students.” The union went on to thank Owen Bonnici for his work as Minister of Education.
