A review of the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union, is being held this month.

Together for Europe’s Recovery – is an online discussion being organised by MEUSAC and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Malta to discuss and review the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union which comes to an end on the 31st of December 2020.

Back in July, MEUSAC and the German Embassy in Malta had already organised an online discussion with the same theme.

Termed as a ‘Coronavirus Presidency,’ the German Presidency’s main objective was that of working for Europe to emerge from the crisis stronger, in solidarity.

MEUSAC explained that the important issues to be discussed during the online discussion will be those of climate protection, digitalisation, migration, the multi-annual EU budget for 2021-2027 and the future relationship with the UK.

The online discussion, which will be moderated by Ms Mandy Falzon, Head of MEUSAC will see the participation of:

H.E. Walter Haßmann – Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany

Evarist Bartolo – Minister for Foreign and European Affairs

Carmelo Abela – Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister

The discussion will be held on Tuesday, the 15th of December, between 2.00 and 3.30pm, through the Zoom online platform.

Proceedings will be in English and participants will have the opportunity to intervene with their questions and comments.

Registrations will be received on info.meusac@gov.mt and must include name and surname of participant/s and the entity or organisation being represented.

MEUSAC said that participation is on a first-come-first-served basis.
