The Malta Union of Teachers said that it has queried with the Education Ministry why school board elections are taking place at this time of the pandemic, particularly given the measures in schools to reduce the spread of virus.

It said that the Ministry has responded and confirmed that everything will be done virtually and that parents will not need to go to school to place their votes.

The MUT however noted that it still feels that the chosen period for the elections is not the best under the current circumstances.
