An art competition on the theme of the Nativity was organised by the Gozo Culture Unit within the Ministry for Gozo for students aged between 5 and 12.
Art students at the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College Gozo Visual and Performing Art School in Xewkija, produced a variety of artwork throughout November which was related to this theme.
The Gozo VPA explained that this task was integrated within the Learning Outcomes of the courses offered at this school.
All artwork will be on display in Independence Square, Victoria over the coming days. Four of the artworks chosen by an external independent jury, will feature on this year’s Christmas Cards being sent to Gozitan households.
The School Administrator Vincent Caruana observed the high level of work done. “We believe our school shall be a lively, thriving and dynamic centre of creativity and initiatives such as this one are good platforms for our young students to express their talent and imagination and introduce their artwork to larger audiences.”
Head of MAV College Network Victor Galea praised the School for working closely with the Culture Office in Gozo to create platforms for the students to perform and exhibit the outcomes of their studies.
While thanking the Culture Office, Mr Galea said that, “through such collaboration, the visibility of the Gozo VPA School with the general public is continually increasing. It is hoped that through such initiatives, the public may be further attracted to the expressive arts and becoming aware of the many opportunities this school in Xewkija has to offer, not only ion arts but in Music, Dance and Drama as well.”
