As part of her visits to schools and educational institutes in Gozo and Malta, Education Minister Justyne Caruana visited Victoria Primary School in Gozo where she welcomed the good results achieved in an International Study in Mathematical Trends and Science.
From there, Dr Caruana went on to the Gozo College Middle School, which is the only middle school on the island.
“I am very proud of the work being done at this school,” said Minister Justyne Caruana, “because through great dedication, educators are leading students to participate fully, not just in traditional learning, but by also embarking on various projects that are contributing to the environment through the involvement of Ekoskola, meaning that together with other projects, these students are being given holistic education and training.”
Minister Caruana, who was given a warm welcome by the students, was accompanied on her tour by the Head of School Tereza Camilleri, during which she had the opportunity to view the work done at this middle school, as well as the ongoing school projects.
The Head of the School explained that there is a great collaboration between educators and students so that education is able to continue in this unprecedented time for the islands due to the pandemic.
Gozo College Middle School is one of sixteen schools awarded the eTwinning label 2020-21 and the only one to have achieved this in Gozo, and has also been awarded the Ekoskola Green Flag three times.
Minister Caruana thanked the educators for their work, adding that the school is also undergoing a change with the current infrastructural project, which when completed will mean that educators and students will enjoy a new and modern building.
At the end of her visit Dr Caruana was presented with a souvenir of the school.
