Between 2018 and 2020 Malta Customs said that it has stopped various consignments that were in breach of sanctions imposed on movement of goods to Libya. The total value was €927,294,000.

Malta Customs in as statement on Friday said that among the consignments were:

Four containers carrying stolen vehicles, valued €95,000; Three containers carrying fireworks, with an estimated value of €1,064,000; Two containers carrying €926 million in paper currency; and Twenty-three containers carrying boats, with an estimated value of €135,000.

It explained that the data about the seizure of illicit currency and the data about the seizure of boats refer to recently held consignments that were in breach of sanctions imposed on movement of goods to Libya.
