“Education is also creative education, by which students are able to use their imagination and critical thinking to create new and meaningful forms of ideas and learn to develop their abilities,” said Minister for Education Justyne Caruana, during the eighth edition of a writing participation event.

She added that Gozo Live is an excellent organisation helping our students to use their writing skills and instilling a love of writing in them.”

There were 232 entries submitted from 17 different schools in Gozo, all of which were applauded during an online meeting via MS Teams.

Gozo Live, a non-governmental and voluntary educational organisation, founded and run by Barbara Day, celebrated some of Gozo’s young writers for the eighth consecutive year.

During this writing participation event, a student representing each school read their entries of creativity in writing and shared with the large and receptive audience their inspirations, hopes and dreams.

Interviewing each reader was Education Officer for English Pamela Zerafa, who hosted the event. 23 entries were included in a book which Gozo Live publishes yearly.

All this was done in the presence of Minister for Education Justyne Caruana and Director for EcoGozo Joseph Cutajar, Heads of School, Assistant Heads of School, Heads of Department, parents and other fellow students.

Minister Justyne Caruana congratulated all those who participated and thanked the organisers for this yearly event, which, she said, “is not only helping our students in their writing skills but also helping them in their educational journey.”

Every student who submitted an entry received a certificate of participation and a book, both of which will be handed to a representative from the school participating in the event.

The event finished by announcing the next annual writing competition, sponsored by EcoGozo, the deadline of which is Friday, the 30th of April.
