This year’s winners of the matemaTIKKA awards were St Margaret College Secondary School Verdala, St Clare College St Julian’s Primary School and St Nicholas College Mgarr Primary School
An annual initiative, which is organised by the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes within the Ministry of Education, is to promote innovative practices in schools and colleges which strengthen student engagement in mathematics and is sponsored by the HSBC Malta Foundation.
This year’s edition focused on projects which adopted online and digital approaches to facilitate student, educator and parent or guardian engagement and active participation. The winning projects pursued different ideas within this context.
The Gold Award went to St Margaret College Secondary School Verdala’s ‘Verdala Shopping Experience,’ while the Silver Award went to St Clare College St Julian’s Primary school’s ‘An Open Classroom with a Twist,’ and the Bronze Award went to St Nicholas College Mgarr Primary school’s ‘Around Malta Digital Scavenger Hunt.’
