Blood donation session in Gozo on Sunday morningThe National Blood Transfusion Service thanked everyone who donated blood at the Xewkija Clinic last Tuesday.

The Services continues to call for more donations in Gozo and encouraged Gozitans to please come forward and donate blood as a gesture of solidarity, all blood types are needed.

Donations can be made at the Centre in Xewkija, on Sunday, the 25th of April from 8am to 1pm (last registration until 1pm).

The donation centre is located at the Xewkija Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.

The Service reminds everyone that it is important to always take your Identity Card, or Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand. Also, please encourage others to donate if possible.

Anyone currently waiting to take a Covid-19 test, or who has had the test and is waiting for the result, cannot give blood.

Anyone who has tested positive for Covid-19 will be able to donate blood 4 weeks from the last symptoms.

Anyone taking the vaccine must allow 7 days to elapse before donating blood.

A blood donor must allow 7 days to elapse before taking the Covid-19 vaccine.

The Service stressed that due to the Covid-19 situation all necessary measures are being taken to protect anyone who comes to donate blood, as well as the professionals who provide them with a service.

The next chance to donate blood in Gozo after Sunday, will be Tuesday, the 4th of May, from 1pm till 8am.
