Today is International Day for Biological Diversity and BirdLife Malta has joined withNature2020: a global collaborative artwork for biodiversity which will unite diverse communities across the world.
BirdLife Malta and Majjistral Nature and History Park have teamed up for Malta withNature 2020, and at Golden Bay in Malta they have created a giant image of the Yelkouan Shearwater – one of Malta’s breeding seabirds.
This international event is being transmitted throughout the day and from Malta the Yelkouan Shearwater was transmitted live on Youtube earlier this evening.
BirdLife Malta volunteers have been busy creating this giant image since early this morning, with 500 pieces of coloured clothing being laid on the ground to generate and photograph from above to show it live.
The images are being broadcast all day and started with Auckland, New Zealand early this morning and will come to an end late this evening with the last image to be broadcast from Washington, USA).
After the event the clothes used to create the Yelkouan Shearwater will be donated to the Inspire Foundation.
