Peru is a big country divided into Costa, Sierra and Selva I was not only the first Maltese to go to the Selva of Ayacucho but the first ever ‘Gringo’ a designation they give to all foreigners.

The number one problem is education, even to the extent that many primary school 12 year old leavers could not find a vacancy at the Secondary school, so they all end up working in the Coca/white gold production and in prostitution.

I built a church, I helped in the new hospital and now I had to create a Secondary School. Although I had nothing to do with the name – honestly – the school was named after me ‘Institucion Educativa Anthony Zammit or Colegio Anthony Zammit. It is either a Religious name, a historical person or a founder.

Today the 24th of May 2021 is the 10th Anniversary of CAZ and in Peru anniversaries are celebrated with pomp. This year the festivity is going to be Virtual and live on the school’s Facebook.

You can look it up I. E. Anthony Zammit and please send them a ‘friend’s Request’ to show them your support especially if you are a Zammit.

Hopefully with more education Santa Rosa will be acclaimed by the production of Coffee and Cacao not by Coca.

Therefore the surname ZAMMIT now is present and alive in one of the most secluded part of Peru called Santa Rosa District, Simarriba Pueblo.
