The Church in Malta is publishing directives regarding the celebration of the feasts for this year, according to the statement issued on 14 May where it was stated that the parish and other religious feasts that take place inside the building of the Church are held on the only on the days that the feasts are usually celebrated, with full respect for the health protection measures indicated by the health authorities.

These directives stipulate that the Masses and other liturgical celebrations related to the feast must comply with the directives issued by the ecclesiastical and / or civic authorities in force at that time, that the statue must be taken out and returned to the niche privately.

The Church said that the directives that come into force today are based on two principles: that the feast is an occasion to commemorate and call Christians to follow the example of the Saints, and that it is an occasion to show solidarity with those who are more in need in the parish community, especially in these times when families are going through various challenges.

Concerning external celebrations which are normally organised by the Church, as already stated on the 14th of May, they will only take place, if, where and when the health authorities authorise them as permitted activities.
