GO have announced that they are once again giving their full support to the Malta Bible Society after signing up last year as the Society’s partner in a number of praiseworthy projects mainly the printing of the Holy Bible in Braille, in giant print and in audio format. Thanks to the initiative, persons with various forms of visual impairment in the local community now have the chance to share the outstanding experience of reading the Holy Bible.

The Malta Bible Society has won respect locally on grounds of its sterling work in translating, publishing and distributing the Holy Scriptures in the Maltese language at a price all can afford. The Society seeks to carry out its mission in different ways utilising a range of programmes targeting all categories of the population. Ongoing programmes include translating the Bible to Maltese from the original languages and assisting Bible readers – both children and adults – to understand its complex messages. In line with its goals, the Bible Society organises courses on an ongoing basis at national and parish level and involves itself in regular radio and TV programmes focussed on the Bible and the Malta Bible Society’s work locally and abroad.

“GO is delighted to have the opportunity of teaming up once again with the Bible Society for another worthy cause. After supporting the publication of the Holy Bible in Braille last year, GO is supporting its publication in giant-print format this year. We are confident that our contribution will further enhance the Society’s drive towards giving the Holy Bible an intrinsic role in the lives of the local community at large,” said Maria Jourdan, sponsorships and CSR Manager for GO.

“The initiative underpins GO’s strong involvement with the Maltese community. Sponsoring initiatives with a strong social implication – such as the production of the Holy Bible in special formats for persons with different levels of visual impairment – turns the spotlight on GO’s Corporate Social Responsibility and its strong social conscience. We are committed to enhancing living conditions for members of the local community,” she went on.

Grace Cilia, General Secretary for the Society said, “It is only through the invaluable assistance and support coming from team players such as GO that the Malta Bible Society – a non-profit organisation – can effectively sustain and develop the wide spectrum of services it provides locally even to the socially disadvantaged.” Ms Cilia took the opportunity of thanking GO for its ongoing support.
