4 new Covid-19 cases and 4 recoveries, active cases remain at 76There were 4 new Covid-19 case recorded in the past 24-hours from 2,799 swab tests – making a 0.14% positivity rate. There were 4 recoveries and no new deaths registered.

Active cases remain at 76 in Malta and Gozo. The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in Malta is 30,557 and there have been 30,062 recoveries and 419 deaths.

933,864 swab tests have been taken since the start of the pandemic in Malta.

534,639 doses of the vaccine have been administered up until yesterday. 221,595 are now fully vaccinated, while 91,449 are partly vaccinated.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has advised that it will be reporting figures on a weekly basis – every Thursday. As of the 3rd of June, it shows that the number of cases recorded for Malta is at 30,535 and the number of deaths showing is 419. The 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is now 9.91, the lowest in the EU.

The ECDC said that the above data are collected between Monday and Wednesday for the proceeding week.

The Ministry of Health called on the public to continue to follow the preventive measures so that we can protect the most vulnerable in our society – This includes wearing of masks, social distancing and hand hygiene.

      Unfortunately with the forthcoming increase in tourist numbers we are likely to see a proportionate increase in new cases and if we do get into the UK green list this week we may well be out of it very quickly as has happened to Portugal!
