For the fourth time in a week, there were no new Covid-19 cases found in the past 24-hours from the 1,660 swab tests taken. There were 3 recoveries and no new deaths registered.

Active cases are now down to 29 in Malta and Gozo. The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in Malta is 30,588 and there have been 30,139 recoveries and 420 deaths.

963,044 swab tests have been taken since the start of the pandemic in Malta.

621,674 doses of the vaccine have been administered up until yesterday. 282,709 are now fully vaccinated.

Speaking on ONE Radio on Saturday morning, Health Minister Chris Fearne said it is expected that in the coming days 80% of adults will have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has advised that it will be reporting figures on a weekly basis – every Thursday. As of the 17th of June, it shows that the number of cases recorded for Malta is at 30,582 and the number of deaths showing is 419. The 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is now 9.13, the lowest in the EU.

The ECDC said that the above data are collected between Monday and Wednesday for the proceeding week.

The Ministry of Health called on the public to continue to follow the preventive measures so that we can protect the most vulnerable in our society – This includes wearing of masks, social distancing and hand hygiene.
