1 new Covid-19 case, with 3 recoveries, active cases now down to 27There was 1 new Covid-19 cases found in the past 24-hours from the 1,839 swab tests taken, making a positivity rate of 0.05 There were also 3 recoveries and no new deaths registered.

Active cases are now down to 27 in Malta and Gozo. The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in Malta is 30,589 and there have been 30,142 recoveries and 420 deaths.

964,833 swab tests have been taken since the start of the pandemic in Malta.

625,844 doses of the vaccine have been administered up until yesterday. 285,817 people are now fully vaccinated.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has advised that it will be reporting figures on a weekly basis – every Thursday. As of the 17th of June, it shows that the number of cases recorded for Malta is at 30,582 and the number of deaths showing is 419. The 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is now 9.13, the lowest in the EU.

The ECDC said that the above data are collected between Monday and Wednesday for the proceeding week.

The Ministry of Health called on the public to continue to follow the preventive measures so that we can protect the most vulnerable in our society – This includes wearing of masks, social distancing and hand hygiene.
