The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses has welcomed the measures announced by the Government yesterday which bans people without a recognised vaccine certificate from entering Malta as from Wednesday.
In a statement on Saturday, the Union said that the “Covid-19 vaccine is the most important tool to stop the spread of this virus and its certification is much more reliable than any PCR test.”
MUMN also described it as “another courageous step” that unvaccinated people cannot travel outside the country unless special permission is granted by the Superintendent of Public Health and would need to quarantine if such permission is granted.
It added that, “such measure is good news to all frontliners and most especially to all patients in hospitals and elderly institutions.” The measure is aimed at stopping the spread of the virus by stopping new strains being imported.
The MUMN concluded by saying that these measures accompanied by other measures such as banning of mass events and enforcement “should be the way forward and be the new normality.”
