154 new Covid-19 cases have been found from the 3,353 swab tests taken, making a positivity rate of 4.59%. There were 6 recoveries and no new deaths registered.
Active cases have now risen to 782 in Malta and Gozo. The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in Malta is 31,394 and there have been 30,192 recoveries and 420 deaths.
1,021, 801 swab tests have been taken since the start of the pandemic.
The number of vaccines administered has now at 709,131 up until yesterday. 351,395 people are now fully vaccinated.
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has advised that it will be reporting figures on a weekly basis – every Thursday. As of the 8th of July, it shows that the number of cases recorded for Malta is at 30,664 and the number of deaths showing is 420. The 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is now 14.38. .
The ECDC said that the above data are collected between Monday and Wednesday for the proceeding week.
The Ministry of Health called on the public to continue to follow the preventive measures – This includes wearing of masks, social distancing and hand hygiene.
Dear Minister I am very happy by the new rules for inbound tourists. I am fully vaccinated and I should not worry too much but I do not want to be infected even mildly. Why should I? I have self isolated not because of having contact but because I DO NOT KNOW what is out there. I live on an island with 30’000 others and I am treated as if I am living amongst half a million people! Of the 16 English school, was the one in Gozo included? Having 782 cases will lock me down for sure but if I am told how many are in Gozo, I might be game enough to go out shopping or swimming, with my friends for a BBQ or in a restaurant. This is unfair. I need to know how many positive are around me in each report if it is possible. Thank you
