80% of the works being carried out in Triq l-Imgarr, Nadur are now completed, Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri has said.
“Finally this road has been given the attention it deserves and is being rebuilt after it was left in a bad state of repairs for many years,” he said.
The Minister explained that this project includes the reconstruction of the road, increased road safety systems to reduce the risk of accidents, the reconstruction of retaining walls and a country wall, as well as other facilities for the necessary underground services.
He went on to say that Triq l-Imgarr was closed due to major structural damage, making it inadequate and dangerous for users. Extensive analysis and underground tests were carried out which resulted in a clear indication of the physical and structural characteristics of each stratum.
Parts of Triq l-Imgarr required the construction of structural reinforced friction piles at a depth of 22 metres and reinforcement of the upper structural columns, beams and road structure.
Minister Camilleri said that the use of this type of structure for road construction is completely new to Gozo.
He added that before work on the road could be started, all permits were issued, plans were made and completed, geological tests were completed and structural designs were made and completed.
Repairs were also completed on Triq iz-Zewwieqa so it could serve as an alternative road to Triq in-Nadur and Triq Sant’Antnin in Ghajnsielem, the Minister said.
You need to much time in complete ” easy ” works like this !
It was 2 or 3 years ?
That is not international Standard !
So i have to ask the Governmentand all Supporters – you think you will be able to build a tunnel between the islands ???

Triq Sant’ Antnin Ghajnsielem – speeding – traffic calming measures
I read in the local press about the reconstruction of Triq L-Imgarr leading to Nadur, once this work is completed there will be a substantial increase in traffic through Triq Sant’ Antnin Ghajnsielem, this street narrows at the south end and it is extremely dangerous as it is.
I have seen cars (well most of them) speed through this street at a very dangerous level. Traffic calming measures must be installed as a matter of urgency, these may include road humps, built-out kerbs, bollards and additional road speed signs.
My brother’s car was hit and badly damaged by a hit-and-run driver and I was nearly run over by cars a few times whilst cycling.
