Update – Gozo Fast Ferry has said that a “minor fire” broke out on one of its vessel this morning shortly after leaving Gozo on the 7.45am trip.

“No one was injured in this incident and fire suppression systems were immediately engaged by the crew,” the company said.

In a statement, it said that all passengers on board were disembarked safely and all safety procedures were followed.

The company went on to say that “an internal investigation to determine the cause of the fire is currently underway.”

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank the respective authorities for their immediate response and assistance,” a company spokesperson said.
