34 new Covid-19 cases have been found overnight with 50 recoveries. Authorities said that during the last 24-hours a 96-year old man passed away while Covid positive.

There have been 447 deaths since the start of the pandemic. The number of active cases in Malta and Gozo are now down to 723

A total of 31 Covid positive patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, up from 28 yesterday, 3 of whom are in the ITU, up from 2 yesterday.

The number of vaccines administered is now 804,841 up until yesterday, of which 1,938 are booster doses.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has advised that it will be reporting figures on a weekly basis – every Thursday. As of the 9th of September, it shows the number of cases recorded for Malta is at 36,512 and the number of deaths showing is 445. The 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 remains at 135.84.

The ECDC said that the above data are collected between Monday and Wednesday for the proceeding week.
