Sixteen entities engaged in social work have expressed their concerns about the proposals to the “so-called responsible use of cannabis bill.”

In a statement on Sunday, the Curia said that the NGOs are in line with the position of Caritas Malta and the OASI Foundation of Gozo, who had reiterated that the proposed law will be more harmful than beneficial for Maltese society.

These entities, some of which work directly with vulnerable children and young people, stressed that they are “especially concerned about the message being passed on to children and young people on cannabis use and culture.”

They are therefore asking politicians to “really consider the common good when contemplating laws that move closer to liberalisation of cannabis.”
