JP2 Foundation marks the Liturgical Feast of Pope Saint John Paul II

The JP2 Foundation has hosted the youth orchestra “Eurode Jugendorchestra Herzogenrath” from Germany, to mark the 15th anniversary from the unveiling of the National Monument dedicated to Pope Saint John Paul II on the 16th October 2006. The orchestra was under the music direction of Mro Joseph Grech.
The 25 members of the German Orchestra joined local musicians from the Gozo Youth Wind Band and Orchestra and participated during the 11.30am Mass at the Gozo Cathedral on Sunday. Miss Antonella Portelli animated the Mass.
Tomorrow is the Liturgical Feast of Pope Saint John Paul II. “MESSA TOTUS TUUS” will be executed for the first time. Michelangelo Muscat’s composition for orchestra and choir will be performed during a Thanks giving Mass celebrated by Rev Mons Carmelo Refalo.
The commemoration is tomorrow, Friday, the 22nd of October, at 6.30pm at the Nativity of Our Lady Parish Church, Xaghra.
The events commemorating this feast will end on Sunday, the 24th of October, with a Sacred Music Concert under the music direction of Mro. Abraham D’Amato featuring the orchestra “Cappella Musicale Cæciliana,” with guest musician Clarinettist Jessica Ellul and soloist Tenor Angelo Muscat, Soprano Astrid Cacciatore and Bass Albert Buttigieg, at the Xaghra Basilica starting at 6pm.
