Azure Window leaps to 14th in 7 Wonders competition

The San Lawrenz Local council have advised that currently the Azure Window is now in 14th position in the worldwide competition to declare the New Seven Wonders of Nature. After a long period occupying the 24th and the 26th position.

The Local Council said it’s commitment to advertise this initiative is having positive results and is encouraging the Council to continue in its hard work to have this unique treasure in our islands occupy this prestigious title around the world.

The Council said it also believes that this will serve as publicity for the whole country as well.

The Azure Window needs to achieve 11th position to qualify for the second round of voting. The first voting phase comes to an end on the 7th of July.

For those who still would like the opportunity to vote they can do so by visiting the New Seven Wonders website to cast their vote.

      That is great news. I have voted already but will push others to do so. The Azure Window earns its place at the top of the list and would be great for Gozo if it made it through to the second stage. Read a few negative articles about Gozo heritage, the airstrip, MEPA etc etc so this article makes up for it :-)(sort of)

      I agree with you John Proffitt-White that this is great news. Like you I have also voted. Lets just hope that the Maltese Government wake up to the possibility that judges may descend on the Azure Window at some point, and dismantle that damned eyesore at the top of the hill!
