Bank of Valletta have announced that they have been supporting local charitable organisations for many years. Through these regular donations, the Bank said it makes a tangible contribution to society at large, making a difference to the many people in need who benefit from such charitable work.

Caritas (Malta) has again received the support of BOV, which is extending its donation to this local charity for the fifth year running. Igino Xuereb, Chief Officer Operations at Bank of Valletta presented the Bank’s donation to Mgr Victor Grech, Director of Caritas and Anglu Fenech, Caritas’s Administrative Secretary during a courtesy visit at the Bank’s Head Office.

“Our institution has very close ties with the local community, which is reflected in the support BOV gives to local charities under its responsibilities towards society. By pledging our support to Caritas year after year, we acknowledge the important role this organisation plays within our society and trust that the Bank’s contribution will enable it to continue providing much needed support to those in need,” stated Mr Xuereb.

Mgr Grech thanked the Bank for its continuous support and said that, without the help of institutions such as Bank of Valletta, Caritas would not be in a position to offer its full range of services. “Although our costs exceed €100,000 each month, we still manage to offer all our services free of charge through the donations received from institutions and individuals, our fund-raising activities, and Government Grants. We would like to take this opportunity to invite other institutions to follow Bank of Valletta’s example and assist us in our mission,” concluded Mr Grech.

Caritas (Malta) is provides support to persons with psychological or psycho-spiritual problems, widowed and separated persons, the elderly, people with gambling or alcohol problems, victims of usury, lonely youths, persons at risk from HIV/AIDS, and homeless persons.
