Gozitan artist Mark Sagona will be delivering a public lecture at St George’s basilica, Victoria, this Tuesday, the 16th of June at 8.00pm.

The church said that the art collection of St George’s basilica is the most significant in Gozo and boasts works by Mattia Preti, Stefano Erardi, Giuseppe d’Arena, Enrico Regnaud, Gio Nicola Buhagiar, Pietro Paolo Azzopardi, Carlo Ignatio Cortis, Giuseppe Cali, Abram Gatt, and Emanuele Buhagiar, among others.

Mark Sagona, who is also a visiting lecturer with the Department of History of Art at the University of Malta, will discuss the most important works in the light of the main currents of Art History in Malta and will compare the works at St George’s with other key works by the artists under discussion.

The event forms part of the twelfth edition of the Victoria International Arts Festival and the lecture will be delivered in English.

Entrance is free of charge and the general public are cordially invited to attend.
