A €150,000 fund has been launched by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector for co-financing voluntary organisations for 2022.

In a statement, the Ministry for Inclusion, Social Wellbeing and Voluntary Organisation said that this fund aims to support the co-financing obligations of voluntary organisations benefiting from funding from European Union institutions, EEA grants, Norwegian grants (EEA Norwegian Fund), bilateral agreements. (including the Maltese-Swiss Cooperation Programme) and the Council of Europe.

Co-financing funds are intended to complement and not replace existing activities supported by European Union funding.

It was explained that this fund, amounting to €150,000, has the ultimate goal of assisting voluntary organisations to be in a financial position to obtain funding from the European Union for their projects.

While as the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector it assists the sector with local funds, it is important to encourage and assist, including co-financing, organisations in order to make the most of European Union funding. This fund will remain available until all funds are released.

In this way, both as a sector and as a country, the best use will be made of the funds allocated to Malta for the benefit of our communities, the Council said.
