Nine Gozitan local councils benefit from LESA funds for community projectsLESA funds have been presented for a variety of new project to various localities, including nine in Gozo, by Byron Camilleri Minister for Home Affairs, National Security and Law Enforcement.

In Gozo, the localities to benefit from this €1 million fund are: Ghasri, Xaghra, Fontana, Sannat, Zebbug, Ghajnsielem, Xewkija, Kercem and Gharb.

The Minister explained that this is being done as part of the agreement reached in January 2021 when the government announced that it will allocate €3 million of enforcement funds in projects for the community. The agreement between the Local Enforcement Agency (LESA) and the Association of Local Councils (AKL) provides for an investment of €1 million per year.

Through this fund, local councils that have been selected by a selection board independent of LESA will receive up to 80% of the total project cost up to a maximum of € 80,000.
