Xaghra Mayor and PL electoral candidate for the 13th district, Christian Zammit, has spoken out against the approval by the Planning Commission on Friday of the application by Gozitan developer Joseph Portelli, for a 125-unit complex in Sannat. Saying that “`this rape needs to stop.”

Writing on Facebook, Zammit stated, “I will repeat it again. And it doesn’t matter if I am out of the election. I am not tied to the chair of power. The planning rules for Gozo must be amended before it is too late. This rape needs to stop.”

The complex will stand just 300 metres from the cliffs of Ta’ Cenc and has been the subject of objections from numerous NGOs and individuals.
