The Malta Federation of Organisations Persons with Disability (MFOPD) is the national umbrella organisation for the disability sector and is the voice of approximately 35,000 persons with disabilities living in the Maltese islands.
Next month it is organising the conference “Personal Assistance for persons with disability” on Monday, the 11th of April between 1pm and 4pm at the University of Malta (Valletta Campus). Personal Assistance to persons with disability means independence.
The Federation explained that independent living and inclusive life in the community are ideas that historically stemmed from persons with disabilities asserting control over the way they want to live by creating empowering forms of support such as personal assistance and requesting that community facilities are in line with universal design prerogatives.
The conference is to be addressed by Dr Adolf Ratzka, a pioneer of the Independent Living Movement in Europe.
Registration is free of charge and can be made by clicking here. Anyone needing translations and or sign language interpretation are kindly asked to note their request.
